I thought that I would give you all an update on my projects, because people have asked. I have included all my projects below (I think). If you have questions, or I have forgotten something that you are interested in, please send me a message.
The Mongolian Saddle Project: Yes, it has been years since I have worked on this project. The reasons are long, but it comes down to health. I know very little about woodworking and my friend who has been helping me had a health scare. Once he was back on his feet, I fell from my horse and have only recently (July) been cleared for go back to my normal way of life. Now, I just need to go about finding time in our busy schedules to continue the project. I am hoping to be back ‘in the saddle’ in late fall/early winter here in Australia. Thank you for your patience.
How I Redact: Great news! I am back on the redaction blog. The next several posts are written and are scheduled to come out over the next few months.
Redactions from Cloud Forest Hall: I have several written. I just need to add them to the publication schedule for this blog. I would expect them to start to filter in during November.
New Cookbook: One of the projects that has been taking my time away from my blog is a new cookbook. I have an Advance Reader Copy of the book and it has gone out. I have a few notes about things to tighten/fix and I will get to those in the next few weeks. Hopefully, I will have the first iteration of it up on the site next month. It will be linked to the upper menu like The Red Jade House’s Guide.
If you haven’t checked out The Red Jade House’s Guide for Feasting for Their Serene Majesties, take a few minutes to have a look at it. This is the pamphlet that Master Drake Morgan and I wrote a few years back for the Khan of Lochac. It has several nice recipes to try and a section on how feasting in Yuan Mongolian culture might have looked.
The new cookbook differs from The Red Jade House’s Guide in that it was designed as a cookbook. Each recipe is a redaction from Cloud Forest Hall and, eventually, I hope to include all of the recipes from that manuscript in the book. So, at this time, it is very much a work in progress.
New Feast Project: My newest and most exciting news is a new feast project. As we again have a Mongolian Khan in Lochac, I have been asked to come in and design the menus for Fields of Gold, a two-night camping event in Politarchopolis.
I have developed two dinners (one a full feast) and two lunches for the weekend. There are 220 hungry mouths to feed. I will be blogging about the process.
So, that’s me. You should see updates to the blog once a week (I think on Wednesday).
